
Peter P. Yim is a manager, entrepreneur, technologist, researcher, strategist and futurist. He is President & CEO of CIM Engineering, Inc. (San Mateo, CA) - a company he founded in 1989.
His company provides infrastructure and hosting of Internet applications, as well as systems development, integration and deployment services under the name “CIM3”. The mission of CIM3 is to provide systems that will enable more effective distributed collaboration and project teamwork through bootstrapping collective intelligence (a concept and paradigm first proposed by visionary/inventor Douglas Engelbart.)
Peter and his company are committed to open systems and standards. He is a founding member of the OASIS UBL (Universal Business Language) Technical Committee. He also co-convened [ontolog], the international open forum on informal and formal ontology for the business domain, which, incidentally, is hosted on CIM3's distributed collaboration platform.
Systems projects that Peter has been involved in, over the past 30 years of his systems, engineering and manufacturing career, include multimedia user-interaction applications, network operating system, groupware, manufacturing systems, ERP, high availability systems for the stock market, and, e-business systems built upon a knowledge architecture. Clients he has served include SRI, IBM, Apple, HP, Dell, Xerox, Ford, Delco, Matsushita and various government agencies.
Peter graduated from Cornell University in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research, and has concentrated in organizational behavior and personnel management studies at Cornell’s Graduate Business School.
